Judith A. Britz, Ph.D. - Executive Director
Dr. Judith Britz joined the BioMaryland Center as the Executive Director in January 2010. Prior to joining the Center, Dr. Britz spent ten years in academia and 25 years in industry--including fifteen as an entrepreneur with two Maryland startup companies. She raised more than $50M million for these companies from strategic investors, venture capital, government and angel sources to bring products through the FDA process to market. Dr. Britz also held senior management positions at Becton Dickinson, Johnson and Johnson (Ortho Diagnostics Systems, Inc.) and Electro-Nucleonics, Inc. where she successfully developed one of the first commercial blood screening tests for the AIDS virus.
Dr. Britz’s academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology from Stanford University and a Masters degree from MIT. She has held postdoctoral positions at Johns Hopkins and Yale Medical schools. Judy is a native of Maryland and graduated in Chemistry from Goucher College.
