Biotechnology Development Program

Enhancing Resources to Promote Technology Commercialization

The commercialization of biotechnology products can be a long and capital intensive process. The Center assists these initiatives by providing several funding programs targeted to private companies, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations – all key contributors to the growth of the State's bioscience cluster.

Center awards are designed to stimulate translational research, assist companies with their late-stage commercialization objectives, and help academic or non-profit organizations develop shared resources for industry collaboration.  Details can be found on the specific program applications.

There will be two review cycles for these awards.  After the application deadline, the most promising applications will be invited to the Maryland Biotechnology Center to present their project to an evaluation committee.

Shared Resource Grants
The Center offers grants to qualifying universities and non-profit research organizations to assist in the purchase of multi-user equipment or establishing core facilities that specifically allow for collaborations or contractual agreements with Maryland’s bioindustry.

These funds will supplement other funding programs currently available through our partners, including:

Please make an appointment with Center staff to determine which programs best fits your needs and to understand the qualifying criteria for each program. Our staff will also be happy to help you access the many financing programs available throughout the state.
