Young bioscience companies rely heavily on seed and early-stage funding to advance their projects to successful commercialization. The State of Maryland has several competitive funding programs that help start-up and early-stage companies take-off by providing the initial capital they need to grow. But the path to developing a commercially-viable product remains both long and financially challenging. Normally, before outside funding (angels or venture capital) can be secured, research projects must have demonstrable utility to enter into development and commercialization stages.
The Biotechnology Commercialization Awards program provides funding to push late-stage development of products for Maryland biotechnology companies. Applications will be prioritized by demonstration of a clear path to commercialization, market potential, and adequate funding available after receiving the award.
NOTE: Applications require two forms, available for download through the links below. These forms are to be submitted electronically, and can be submitted as either Word or PDF documents. The two applications, however, MUST be submitted as separate files.
